How to use BANLICE® Mousse

Tips on Application:

Massage BANLICE® into the hair & scalp until it is completely & thoroughly wet with the product. Pay particular attention to areas where nits are more likely to be eg. behind the ears, nape of the neck, beneath the fringe. For long hair, divide into segments & apply from the scalp to the ends until saturated.

Tips on Nit Removal:

Removing nits is perhaps the hardest part of treating for head lice. No head lice product will remove nits - they will NOT wash out after treatment as they are stuck onto the hair shaft with a very strong glue. Whilst BANLICE® Mousse kills nits, physically removing them from the head is your best indication that your child is free of head lice. Combing through with a fine tooth comb can help remove nits but be careful - plastic combs may be ineffective & metal combs can cut & strip the hair. Using a comb to part the hair then removing nits with your fingers is a recommended approach. Whilst not scientifically proven, you may also like to try vinegar - straight or diluted 50% with water if there are bite marks on the scalp - dabbed onto the nits with a cotton wool ball & left for a minute or so. Vinegar will not kill lice or nits, but it may help dissolve the glue & make them easier to remove.

Tips to Help Prevent Reinfestation:
  • Inspect ALL family members - including Mum & Dad - & treat if necessary
  • Wash all brushes/combs/hairclips, linen & clothing worn in the last 48 hours, in hot water.
  • Suspect items that cannot be washed (eg. hats, teddy bears, bike helmets) can be isolated in a sealed plastic bag for 8 - 10 days. If there are any lice on these items, they will complete their life cycle in the bag
  • Keeping long hair securely tied back (plait/bun) will assist in minimising reinfestation whilst head lice are about
  • Notify your friends & the school that you have found a case of head lice. This will help control the extent of the outbreak."Schools Action Plan" section of this internet site contains information which your child's school can use to help control a head lice outbreak. You can assist by reminding your school of this internet site when you ring them to advise of an outbreak
